Julian George Thorne had denied touching a boy aged 13 or 14 inappropriately while he was in bed on three occasions between 22 September 1983 and 22 March 1984.
And after a two-day Assize trial the jury of eight women and four men found Mr Thorne not guilty on all three charges after more than two hours of deliberation.
