Voting began at 8 am and will end at 8 pm, with the successful candidate expected to be declared by around 10.30 pm. The winner will fill the last 18 months remaining on the Senatorial seat before the general election next year.
The candidates are Gerard Baudains, Nick Le Cornu, Francis Le Gresley, Philip Maguire, Peter Remon-Whorrall, Gino Risoli, Pat Ryan, Deputy Geoff Southern and Stuart Syvret. They have done the usual hustings tour of the parishes, which ended in St Helier on Monday night.
The official notice placed by the Judicial Greffe also asks voters in all districts to take some photo ID with them to the polling station because it may be required before they are allowed to vote.
