CITIZENS Advice Bureau manager Francis Le Gresley has been elected Senator in today’s by-election, topping the poll in 11 of the 12 parishes.
CITIZENS Advice Bureau manager Francis Le Gresley has been elected Senator in today’s by-election, topping the poll in 11 of the 12 parishes.
He finished with a commanding lead over Stuart Syvret, who moved into second place after the final vote in town, and Patrick Ryan, who topped the poll in his home parish of St John, and placed third.
The overall result was as follows: Francis Le Gresley (5,798 votes), Stuart Syvret (3,437), Patrick Ryan (3,212), Gerard Baudains (1,329), Deputy Geoff Southern (1,085), Nick Le Cornu (382), Gino Risoli (76), Philip Maguire (72) and Peter Remon-Whorrall (27). There were 113 spoilt papers.
The by-election was called following Stuart Syvret’s departure from the States because he had been absent from the Island for six months.
