The work of Community Savings Ltd, a savings and loan co-operative based next to the former Magistrate’s Court in Seale Street, has been recognised by an award which is the equivalent of the MBE for voluntary groups.
This national honour, set up by the Queen in 2002 to mark her golden jubilee, recognises outstanding contributions made to local communities by groups who volunteer their time for the benefit of others.
Community Savings Ltd has received the award for providing financial support and mentoring to socially and financially disadvantaged Islanders.
