The grants, from the UK government’s Darwin Initiative, have come at a time when the trust is having to consider reducing its work overseas because of a projected budget deficit.
Trust chief executive Paul Masterton said that they were delighted with the news because without the support they would not have been able to start this conservation work overseas.
‘These grants from the Darwin Initiative, which has supported our work overseas before, has a special meaning at this time and we can now go ahead with these projects,’ he said.
