For many years, the band has been prevented from joining the major spectacle because it clashed with Remembrance Sunday services.

However, this year they were able both to perform in the Island at the service and at the show, which was held the following Saturday.

Musical director Nick Manning said that the band had received a wonderful reception in London along the long circular route, which was lined with many thousands of people.

‘It was our ambition to play, but we have not been able to until this year,’ he said. ‘It was a very prestigious occasion.’
