Having been crowned champion of the event for the past two years, winning last year with ease in a time of 1 hr 13 min 44 sec, the 26-year-old will be hoping for another emphatic victory to make it three wins in succession.
Race organiser Mary McGrath is less sure about who will be in the frame as the top local runner, however, many having not yet entered the event. Several could be in with a chance of an age category place, although last year’s top veteran, Jon Coote, is not expected to be in the field.
The women’s race will almost certainly be dominated by Jersey’s Jo Gorrod, with several others challenging for the top places, including Alderney’s Nikki Neil and – if she enters this year – last year’s winner, Sarah Davis, who went on to win the Hash House Harriers half marathon in May and place third in the recent Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon. Another possible front-runner, who has yet to enter, is the marathon winner Claire Forbes.
