Jersey Long Distance Swimming Club members Chantelle Le Guilcher and Tasmin Powell have both been shortlisted for the World’s Great Open Water Swim of the Year award.

And club president Sally Minty-Gravett is nominated for their World Open Water Swimming Woman of the Year award.

Both aged 15, Le Guilcher and Powell are two of 20 put forward for the swim of the year category after they individually completed 70k Round Jersey swims – Le Guilcher in 10 hours and 37 minutes and Powell in 11 hours and 34 minutes.

They are recognised for being ‘home-grown’ swimmers who swam ‘quickly while battling the elements’ and in Powell’s case, seasickness.
