Parrots die as helicopter flies over St John home

Martin Fernando claims that the aircraft suddenly appeared from nowhere and began circling his house before hovering at about 600 feet and taking pictures of his collection of rare and critically endangered birds.

Two parrots died during the bizarre evening incident, including one on the brink of extinction, and two others were seriously injured.

Mr Fernando, who claims he knows who is responsible but has declined to name them, said: ‘I couldn’t believe what I was seeing – it was just like a scene from a war zone. It was absolutely horrifying. My children were screaming and the birds were going crazy. It sounded like they were being murdered.’
