With a welcoming reception and briefing at the Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club the competitors and crew members will gather before racing starts tomorrow.

Around 75 boats had been entered at the last count meaning that there will be over 200 crew members taking part. Alongside Jersey’s entries, Guernsey is well represented in the sportsboat, cruiser/racer, and junior dinghy class while French boats will be in action in the cruiser/racer classes and quarter ton class.

The first race starts early tomorrow morning with the cruiser/racer class setting off for a race around the Island while the sportsboat fleet begin with racing in St Aubin’s Bay ahead of the dayboat, dinghy, and sport-catamaran classes who start in the evening.

Event organiser Bill Harris said: ‘There is no doubt that with the promise of a brisk north-easterly breeze, St Aubin’s Bay is going to be very busy, full of colour, and the scene of some friendly if fierce competition.’
