Trainee car mechanic Deborah Holdridge (26) fell 15 feet from the wall at Kempt Tower onto her back while at a party with friends in July.
Six weeks later – and left with eight metal bolts in her back – she has spoken out in an effort to warn Islanders and appeal to the States to consider erecting railings in the area.
Reliving her accident, which occurred at 3.30 am on 19 July, Miss Holdridge said: ‘We hired out Kempt Tower for a friend’s birthday and it was a fantastic evening. It was pitch black, but I wanted to pop onto the beach. I sat on the wall and swung my legs round and hopped off the other side thinking that the walkway from the Splash to Big Vern’s was still there, but I hadn’t realised there was a 15-foot drop onto the concrete slabs.’
Miss Holdridge said that she had had a few drinks, but insisted that she was not drunk.
