Anne Perchard threw open the doors to the farm, as she has done annually for the past ten years, to raise money for Overseas Aid and local charities including the Women’s Refuge and Centrepoint.

During the decade, the open days have raised over £60,000 for charities – including supporting the work of Dr Hezron McObewa, a Jersey-educated doctor who is working in Kenya, and who lived at the farm while he attended school here.

Visitors young and old enjoyed a day wandering around the farm, with a tour of the milking operation being a highlight. Children could jump on haystacks and families were taken on tractor rides around the farm.

Besides the cows, there was also a coconut shy, car boot sale, cow pat competition and traditional Jersey singing and handbell ringing.

Mrs Perchard said that it was a real pleasure to see so many people, young and old, enjoying a day out at the farm. ‘It is a lovely farm and we love to share it, it is as simple as that,’ she said. ‘It has been extremely successful. People seem to enjoy the ambience of the farm. The animals create a lot of interest.’
