In what was the first Nationals for all four swimmers taking part, Ella Dias (12) became only the third AIB Tiger girl to make an age group final in the last seven years, smashing her way to a time of 5.24.50 minutes in the 400m IM and finishing 10th in the final in the ten-lane pool.
Not to be outdone, 13-year-old Giovanni Gaurino knocked a second off his personal best in the 200m breaststroke but missed out on the final by just 0.8 of a second, placing him 13th overall.
And Emily Bashforth (13) also put in a strong performance in the 1,500m to equal her PB and finish 6th out of a field of more than 20 in a straight final.
Today Henry Job goes in his first event, the 100m freestyle, and both Dias and Bashforth go in the 400m freestyle.
