A RECORD 21 candidates were nominated last night to stand in the Senatorial election.
The candidates – eight States Members, including three ministers, and 13 newcomers – will hit the hustings trail next Tuesday night in St Clement.
There will be three vacant Senatorial seats because Chief Minister Frank Walker, Home Affairs Minister Wendy Kinnard and Senator Len Norman are stepping down, although Senator Norman is expected to stand for St Clement Constable tonight.
The candidates have promised to visit every parish between now and the election on 15 October, and also want to hold two ‘open hustings’ where voters can meet them individually to ask questions. A similar event was held during the 2005 elections at Fort Regent.
