JERSEY tennis junior Scott Clayton has again performed well to reach the semi-finals of Road to Wimbledon.

Clayton beat opponent Tim McLarty from Oxfordshire at the All England Club

yesterday in straight sets, although he said that the 6-3, 6-4 result did not fairly reflect what was in fact a tough match, with a number of deuces and sustained rallies.

Clayton’s father, Steve, said that the youngster was delighted with the result and has now justified his seeding by reaching the penultimate stage of the tournament.

However he now faces what is likely to be his toughest game so far as he meets No 1 seed and the newly crowned British national U14 champion Sam Hutt later today.
