FORMER Worcestershire and Lancashire professional Ryan Driver steered Jersey to victory in the HSBC inter-insular at Grainville on Saturday with a man-of-the-match performance capped by hitting the winning runs with the only six of the game.

Jersey won an intriguing low-scoring affair in overcast conditions by three wickets to retain the silverware following a fine team performance when restricting Guernsey to 119 all out in 46.3 of their allotted 50 overs.

Driver and fellow secondary school teacher Chris Jones did the damage with ball early on – and later with the bat – with excellent spells.

Driver delivered three maidens and took one wicket for ten runs in his opening seven medium to quick overs while Jones bowled his ten straight off returning an impressive six-maiden one wicket for 12 runs with eight of those runs coming in boundaries in his opening three overs.
