CHILDREN at Rouge Bouillon Primary wished their school a happy 100th birthday on Monday with a special open day for parents, past pupils and teachers, and anyone who wanted to help the school celebrate.

A painting of Rouge Bouillon by Ian Rolls was unveiled, which will take pride of place in the entrance hall, and every pupil will get a postcard-sized signed copy as a memento of the day.

Each class put together a centenary display, depicting topics such as transport and entertainment from 1900 to the present day. Former pupils and teachers helped bring the display to life by sending in examinations from the 1920s and a report from the 1930s.

The original Rouge Bouillon building was opened on 7 July 1908 and over the past 100 years it has housed a number of schools including Brighton Road Girls School, St Helier Girls School, Halkett Place School and Vauxhall School.
