Parish administrator Jean Donaldson e-mailed to say that the documents belonged to a member of the Luce family who died there without any children to pass then on to.

‘They mention William Luce baptised in Trinity July 1894, his parents Phillip and Laura-Lee, who were married in Trinity,’ she said. ‘Earlier generations were John and Phillipe.

‘This family were merchants and traded with Gaspé Canada where a branch of the family seemed to have lived. There are details of boats, the Brig Lord Nelson and the Brig Friendship.’

She said that they felt the documents should be with a family member and are seeking help to find descendants.
