Les Quennevais students are a credit to the school

From Paul Dixon, general manager.
Once again Hotel La Place has hosted Les Quennevais School’s prom. With so much negativity and bad coverage across the Island, it is a delight to comment on something that gives you a little feeling of joy.
Around 140 students joined us for this annual event. As usual, Erica Bradshaw, who arranges the event for the school, was on site. She is a true ambassador for the school and it is obvious that she is both respected and cared for by her pupils.
The young adults themselves are a credit to her, to all the staff at the school and to their parents, and a great attribute to the Island. Our hotel residents looked on in delight as the young men in tuxedos and young ladies in ball gowns stepped out of their limousines onto the red carpet. All our residents commented on how polite (and glamorous) Jersey’s young people are.
These students certainly made a good impression on our guests. They also made a good impression on me and my team. You would be amazed how many times adults who are enjoying their stay forget to say please or thank you or, at times, even acknowledge the staff at all. My entire team commented on the excellent manners and attitude these students had.
It may not cost thousands of pounds a year to send your children to this school, and it may not be top of the Island’s league tables but someone, somewhere at Les Quennevais is doing something amazing year after year to produce final-year students with maturity and manners that will set them up for life. Parents and teachers there should be very proud indeed.
Route du Coin,
St Brelade.
