From Terry Connor.

ONCE upon a time not so very long ago, we could all relish the glorious view of a ‘state of the art’ 17th century castle from the harbour region, a veritable free museum on the Waterfront.

Regrettably the authorities finally tumbled how popular this was with Islanders and, realising it might also appeal to those unwanted visitors, promptly encouraged the erection of high concrete screens with attached ‘entertainment’ facilities and capped it all with the ugliest building (despite formidable competition in the Island) from the upper floors or which a breathtaking view is advertised.

For those persistent enough to work their way round these obstructions, they are placing a massive incinerator and Lord knows what else they have up their sleeves to fill in the remaining gaps!

An astute entrepreneur cottoning on to the fact that people might actually be willing to pay to see what was previously ‘for free’ has further uglified the area by importing a monstrous circular elevating device, now to be known as the Jersey Eye(sore).
