Did my parcel disappear into black hole of GST delays?
Share this:
From Will Simpson.
MY modest parcel from Amazon – worth well below the GST limit – made it to a depot in Southampton on 6 May and then vanished without trace.
In the past, their delivery record has been excellent, but your article on Saturday gives me a good clue as to why it has not arrived.
Amazon appears to be an honourable organisation, and following my inquiries they have dispatched another parcel (at no cost to me), although I fear it may simply disappear into the same black hole of GST delays. However, it will not take Amazon long to realise what the problem is, and I think that their likely reaction will be to stop delivering to customers in Jersey.
Now, as far as I can work out from people I talk to, there seem to be almost as many Amazon users in the Island as there are regular voters.
I leave it to our politicians to work out the likely effect in the elections later this year if this problem is not swiftly addressed.
