FAIRBAIRN Sporting Club remain top of both the NatWest Weekend Cricket Premier and Division I tables.
Their first team destroyed Caesareans by 175 runs, with two of Jersey’s World Cricket League hopefuls in particularly good form, Steve Carlyon scoring 72, while his usual opening partner, Matt Hague, having failed with the bat for a change, took four wickets for 19 runs. Former Jersey captain Mark Reynolds also bowled well, taking 3 wickets for 18 runs.
Springfield and Romerils kept up their challenge with victories over St Ouen and Rathbones OVs, respectively. Springfield won by 7 wickets after Richard Parker’s 4 for 37 helped restrict St Ouen to 170.
Romerils had a smaller target, 94, with Peter Blackburn and Martin Waite both grabbing three of OVs’ wickets.
Romerils had far poorer fortune in Division I where they not only lost to St Ouen’s 2nds, but also lost nearly a quarter of their team to a succession of injuries, including torn hamstrings, dislocated fingers and damaged knees.
