THERE were some close matches in the quarter-finals of the JLGA Match Play HSBC Championships at La Moye yesterday.

Elaine Pushman secured her place in the semi-finals as she finished 1 up in her match against Olivia Jordan-Higgins and today she will face Gloria Paradiso who beat Sheila Smith 5 and 4.

Alex Mollin progressed with a 2 and 1 win over Corinne Ramskill and her reward is a match with current champion, and CI title holder, Jenny Deeley who beat Diane Carter 3 and 1.
