The three-person panel will question Environment Minister Freddie Cohen about his controversial decision to approve 102 houses on the marsh last year.

They will also question St Lawrence Constable Geoffrey Fisher, an outspoken critic of developer Dandara’s scheme, and other States officers involved in the decision.

The committee of inquiry was approved by the States in May last year following a proposition by Mr Fisher.

He wants to know why Senator Cohen approved 102 houses on the site despite the fact that it was zoned for just 97 in the 2002 Island Plan, and in the face of strong opposition from Islanders.
