Investigation and litigation costs amounted to £882,000, exceeding the budget of ?700,000.
The Commission says the increase in spend was due to ‘major new investigations that have turned out to be complicated and time consuming, and therefore expensive’.
The budget has been increased to ?1 million for this year, taking into account that two ‘major’ cases will continue, and also allowing for some new investigations.
