The FdA in financial services starts in September and nine applicants have already applied to take the course, which gives students an understanding of how the financial services sector works.

Employers in the finance industry had been asked to contribute £1,200 per student to fund 50 per cent of the course costs, with Economic Development and Education, Sport and Culture paying the remainder.

But at a meeting for employers held on Tuesday it was announced that the two States departments had agreed to waive the ?1,200 charge.
