The 17-year-old Highlands College student, who was born in South Africa to Madeiran parents, impressed at a trial with the Madeira Island club over the Christmas and the New Year period.
Figueira, who is in Jersey’s Youth squad to face Northern Ireland at Springfield on Wednesday evening, will return to Madeira in June when he will sign his contract.
Currently studying sport and leisure at Highlands, Figueira said: ‘My father Joao-Luis set up the trial because he is a friend of the president of the club.
‘It was a great experience and I was delighted when they asked me to return and sign a contract.
‘They would like me to play in midfield; I’m happy with that and I’m looking forward to going back.
The Academy work we did over the New Year was very good; I enjoyed it and I felt I adapted to it well.
‘There are a lot of very different players in the group, some were very strong physically and others tricky and fast.’
Figueira was a playing substitute in Jersey under-15 Schoolboys’ 4-1 Star Trophy win against Guernsey at Springfield Stadium in 2006.
St Brelade under-18 manager Mark Kelly said: ‘Everyone at St Brelade is delighted for Ricky; he has come a long way in the four years he has been with us.
‘I’ve coached Ricky since he moved up from the under-14s and I’ve been impressed with him.
He is a good listener; he is maturing well and all they things we have worked on over the years are now part of his game and he continues to do well.
‘He used to be a little greedy with the ball but know he is very aware when to release it.
He has excellent pace over the first five yards and he is also a composed goalscorer.’
Despite being just 17-years-old, young Figueira has been playing in St Brelade’s first-team in the Coca-Cola Combination where he has scored seven goals this season.
