The 2007 Skills Survey has been compiled and Senator Ozouf said it shows that Jersey’s buoyant economy is matched by a growth in employment, but there is a need to train more school leavers.

‘Improving Jersey’s core skills is my number one priority,’ he said. ‘Jersey’s prosperity depends on having a skilled, enthusiastic work force. We want to reduce the pressure of relying on inward migration by helping people from Jersey achieve their full potential and improve their own lives. The building trade employs up to 4,000 people and we want employers to make sure they are taking every opportunity to train apprentices.’
