Members of the public got the chance to choose from a selection of 30 different soups at the kitchen, paying a minimum donation of £2 to raise money for The Shelter Trust for the Homeless.
Organiser Michelle Cuthbert said that ?8,301 was raised in just three and a half hours at the event, which was also attended by the Lieutenant-Governor, Lieutenant-General Andrew Ridgway and his wife Valerie.
Demand for the soup was so great that one chef sold all 90 litres of soup made for the occasion.
‘It was just phenomenal and we had such a brilliant day. The public are just so generous,’ said Mrs Cuthbert.
