Knife crime: Bailiff calls for tougher sentences

Speaking at a sentencing in the Royal Court on Friday, Sir Philip Bailhache asked Crown Advocate Rebecca Morley-Kirk to ask the Attorney-General to refer the matter to the appropriate Minister with a view to considering the possibility of increasing the maximum penalty.

Sir Philip said: ‘The court wishes to emphasise that carrying knives or threatening to use them is a serious offence which must be punished severely.’
