Treasury Minister Terry Le Sueur says he will fight the amendment when it comes to the States on Tuesday, but the business organisation is urging politicians to accept it. They say that after being ‘let down’ on price-marking, they are looking to the States to accept the amendments, proposed by Health Minister Ben Shenton and Deputy Kevin Lewis. A close vote is expected. The Chamber of Commerce, which represents more than 600 businesses in the Island, is backing the proposals to exempt food, books, magazines and newspapers – and say they ‘do not oppose’ the move to exempt children’s clothes.
