Two years ago the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority reported that food prices in the Isle of Man – which has three supermarket companies – were generally lower than in Jersey. The JCRA has launched a public consultation on the likely impact of allowing a major new competitor to the Co-op and Sandpiper, which operates the Checkers and M & S stores. The JCRA have been asked to look at the issue by the Economic Development Minister, Philip Ozouf.
