Fire Service station manager Trevor Frain said that they were concerned that one bonfire lit in a garden on a housing estate in St Saviour had included plastic chairs causing acrid smoke to pour out. ‘Plastic goods must be taken to Bellozanne, because they can give off toxic fumes when burnt,’ he said. They also received a call from Airport staff concerned that smoke from a bonfire near Jubilee Hill was affecting visibility. Police had a few calls from members of the public reporting incidents in which fireworks were thrown, but ambulance staff did not deal with any firework-related injuries.
