The Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache, said that the Constable, the father of Economic Development Minister Philip Ozouf, was a man who possessed and displayed great courage throughout his long illness. Sir Philip said that Mr Ozouf had completed 48 years of service to his parish, beginning as a Constable’s Officer in 1949. He added that the response of Members to Mr Ozouf answering the roll call at the start of the last sitting of his term of office, after a long break through illness, had been one of the most ‘heart-warming, sustained and thunderous’ he had heard in the Chamber.
