Chris Minty’s fledglings following up Sunday’s nine-wicket win against Germany with an 83-run win against previously-undefeated Italy yesterday at La Manga.
Scoring an excellent 215 for 8 in their allotted 35 overs, Jersey defended their total bowling the Italians out for 132 after another good all round performance.
Minty said: ‘There have been two comfortable wins to date but it will be much tougher today.
But the boys have risen to the challenge and hopefully they can do the same again this afternoon.
‘Tom Le Lievre has kept wicket well for us, he took two catches against Germany and two catches and a stumping yesterday, and left-arm bowlers Joe Mayes and James Faudemer have also impressed.
‘The umpires are being very strict with wide ball rules and we will be looking to reduce our extras again today.
‘The artificial wickets are playing true and the outfields are great.
There is not much shade here, the heat and sun is pretty fierce – it’s around the mid-30s.
‘We are coping well and making sure the boys are taking lots of fluid because the last thing we want is losing players to dehydration.’ The Isle of Man yesterday defeated Germany by nine wickets also making it two wins in two games.
In Group B, Spain and Guernsey both have four points from two matches, Guernsey yesterday beat Gibraltar by nine wickets after reaching their winning target of 72 for 1 in just 7.4 overs.
