The family of Michael John Cowan (48) wept and embraced in the public gallery as the five-woman, seven-man jury returned not guilty verdicts on each of the 12 charges against him. Cowan had been accused of abusing a brother and sister between 1973 and 1979, when he was in his teens, but had strenuously denied all the charges.
