Schoolchildren in Kayamandie, a town on the outskirts of Stellenbosch, were given the kit this summer after a combined effort of good-will from the two companies.
The spare kit became available after Moore Management decided to rebrand their kit, training tops and balls for all of the academy teams.
Ashburton then got in touch with their FirstRand Group colleague and South African rugby legend Franois Pienaar, who captained and played flanker for the South African national rugby union team from 1993 until 1996.
Mr Pienaar is chairman of the Make A Difference (MAD) campaign – a South African foundation which helps underprivileged youths in the country.
Some local schools in Kayamandie with whom MAD work very closely were consequently chosen to benefit.
JRFCA’s Kevin Le Masney and team washed and boxed up the old kit before handing it over to Ashburton for shipment to South Africa.
