Lieutenant David Watson was following behind a British Army Land-Rover that hit a roadside bomb, killing its driver. The Territorial Army officer, who is a member of the Jersey Field Squadron, administered first aid to the four seriously injured passengers. Lt Watson (25) is one of four members of the squadron currently serving in Afghanistan. He and Captain Nick Spratley (38) recently returned to Jersey for a short period of leave. After ten days of ‘rest and recuperation’, they have now flown back to Afghan-istan for the final two months of their tour. Both have been working in the southern province of Helmand since February.
