Fireworks expert Terry McDonald will simultaneously fire 110,000 rockets over St Aubin’s bay as the finale to this year’s Battle of Flowers moonlight parade. If successful, the Island will reclaim its place in the Guinness World Records for the biggest ever rocket launch. The current record-holder, Professor Roy Lowry, is coming to the Island for a week next month to see whether his record is broken. Professor Lowry is a lecturer in physics and chemistry at the University of Plymouth. Mr McDonald said he watched him break Jersey’s 1997 record last year. ‘I gave him a hand last year at the British Fireworks Championships in Plymouth where they broke our 1997 record. He’s now coming to Jersey for a week to be part our event.’
