Highlands College principal Ed Sallis says the course has this month been assessed by the University of Plymouth and they have confirmed their initial validation.
‘A lot of things have come out of the discussions and the second stage, in September, will be the external validation by academics and the industry,’ said Mr Sallis.
‘I think this is very exciting – there is some real expertise within the finance industry in Jersey and we have been told the programme is a model of work-based learning.
A lot of work has gone into this and it is cutting-edge stuff.
The initial development cost of around £50,000 has been funded partly by Education Sport and Culture and partly by Economic Development.
The aim is to run a two-year foundation degree programme at Highlands College from 2008, plus a top-up year for those wanting to continue to Honours status.
