Nick Boléat (26), of Grouville, took over the quirky coffee shop in Sand Street on 18 June and says he could already write a thesis on the place and the regular customers whom he knows by name and order.

It may only have been a short while since he took over from ten-year manager Vicky Simpson, but he has worked in the shop intermittently for the past three years.

Before that he was a customer in the shop and would while away many an hour in there.

‘All I wanted was a place where I could just flop down,’ he said.

‘I used to come in here before I first started working here.

I used to sit in a chair for hours on end reading a book.
