International anti-tax haven lobbyists the Tax Justice Network (TJN) say that Senator Syvret passed them e-mails that are ‘politically sensitive’ and marked confidential and asked them for help finding a job. They also claim to have helped him draft to propositions for debate by the States. Senator Syvret has declined to comment on the suggestion that he passed them sensitive correspondence, saying that the allegation is already the subject of a police investigation. In April he made a formal complaint of blackmail against the group that is still under investigation, saying that they threatened to publish previous correspondence with him. Senator Syvret has sought to minimise his involvement with the Tax Justice Network, saying that they were just one of a number of contacts he used from time to time to research propositions and that they were one of a number of worldwide contacts he approached for help finding work at the end of last year when he was considering stepping down from office.
