Tomorrow night the Jersey Warning and Monitoring Organisation will meet for the last time at their bunker headquarters in Trinity Road to meet the Lieutenant-Governor, Lieutenant-General Andrew Ridgway, for decommissioning. Since 1960 between 20 and 50 Islanders have met every two weeks between March and October to practice nuclear fall-out procedures, radio broadcasting and map reading. The States have now decided that their services are no longer required. Following a review in 2005 they have set up an Emergency Planning Board (EPB) reporting to an Emergencies Council chaired by the Chief Minister.
