WATER POLO: Jersey outplay Durham – In their two games against Durham University at the weekend the Jersey Water Polo Association won their first game 13-8 and their second game 12-6.

SWIMMING: Medals for Tigers – Tom Gallichan picked up three medals at the weekend’s ASA South East Regional Age Group Championships.

The 14-year-old won silver and scored a national qualifying time in the 1500m freestyle with a time of 17.24.23 min.

He went on to win two bronze medals, and record NQTs, in the 200m and 800m freestyle events.

Emma Glendening was the second medallist, collecting a bronze, and NQT, in the 100m freestyle.

BASKETBALL: Guernsey success – Jersey’s JBBA men’s league champions Celtics lost 70-55 to Guernsey’s Le Mont Saint in the Upton on Saturday.

SOFTBALL: Pirates counted out – Yesterday’s Jersey Softball League results from Les Quennevais, Inter-Division: Niners 21, CPA Pirates 3; Flyers 19, J Express Falcons 26.

Division I: AIB Shamrocks 1, Optimus Storm 18.

SHOOTING: Coom on top – William Coom was high gun and winner of class A in Crabbé Clay Pigeon Club’s 50 Bird Sporting yesterday with 40 ex 50.

Sean Leonard won class B with 37 ex 50 and Ian Averty class C with 34 ex 50.

Top veteran was John Bedford with 31 ex 50.

SHOOTING: Benest crowned champion – Richard Benest won the final stage of the Jersey Rifle Association Island Championship at Les Landes yesterday.

The competition was fired at 900 and 1000 yards and Benest’s winning score was 298.41.

Cliff Mallet was second with 297.36, Bruce Horwood third on 296.38 and David Le Quesne fourth on 294.39.

FENCING: Vic College third – Victoria College Prep finished third overall at the Independent Association for Preparatory Fencing Championships in Canterbury.

St Michael’s School were ninth while VCP’s Euan McArthur stood out for winning a medal in every weapon plus a trophy.

GOLF : Dodds takes monthly win – Ian Dodds won St Clement Golf Club’s June Monthly Medal yesterday beating Jimmy Brown on count back with both scoring a nett 54.

Mick Tipping was third, with a nett 56, beating Andy Wiseman on count back.

GOLF: Beeley pips his son – Ian Beeley, 12 hcp, won the Demi Golf Society M Hanley Trophy on Saturday with 37 points.

His son, Craig Beeley, 6 hcp, was second on 37 pts and Ray Pearce, 11 hcp, third on 36 pts.

PETANQUE: Guegan unstoppable – Keely Guegan, who won her three games with a finishing nett score of +16, took overall victory in the third round of the Junior Championship at Les Quennevais on Saturday.
