A concert at Fort Regent is being held on Friday 7 June, the night before opera star Hayley Westenra takes to the same stage. Both evenings are being put on by promoter Dick Ray. The Friday event will raise awareness for Jersey Side by Side, which is currently raising money to build a school in earthquake-hit Pakistan. Mike Wavell, the chairman of the charity, said that a concert was a fitting way to spread the Side by Side message. ‘Music is the only true international language which can capture and create all emotions, bringing together everyone of all nations,’ he said.
