The vehicle, fitted with supposedly hidden cameras, had been used to combat vandalism in car parks for some time until its purpose was discovered by users of a local website who have posted pictures of it online. As a result, the Transport and Technical Services department will have to decommission the car from its undercover spy work. The car has been parked on the fourth floor of Pier Road car park for some time and the sharp-eyed users of www.cicarscene.com – a website for local car enthusiasts – spotted that it had two small cameras poking out from inside. The insurance disc on the windscreen showed that it was registered to the States of Jersey. One camera is in a rear side window and looks out to the left of the car while a second is jammed between the headrest and seat cushion of the driver’s seat and looks forward.
