He said that increased UK pay rates had eroded differentials and were making it difficult to persuade nurses to move here as they face a cost of living at least as high as central London. ‘When attempting to recruit nurses, they look at the pay package and then the cost of living, and often decide it just doesn’t make financial sense for them to move here. The absence of any realistic relocation package to cover costs of moving is also an issue,’ Senator Syvret said. He pointed out that nurses were educated to at least degree level.
