The Trent Valley Restoration (TVR) Group has already been carrying out work in Jersey, both for the States and private developers, and the firm was brought in last year to demolish the chimney of Ann Street Brewery.
Managing director Ray Hallam explained that because of the volume of work they had now decided the time had come to offer specialised training to locally-based people, possibly in partnership with Highlands College and Economic Development.
In addition to steeplejacking the firm carries out lightning protection on new buildings, and regular inspections at the Airport, as well as one-off jobs such as repairs to St Peter’s Church.
‘We do anything at heights,’ said Mr Hallam, a joiner by trade who previously worked for scaffolding firm SGB and took over at TVR some four years ago.
He first came to Jersey when work was being done on the Bellozanne chimney.
