Indeed, at all age levels, the only team who didn’t win were the over-35s, who went down 58-23.
Jersey excelled at under-12 level, setting the stall for an all-embracing, all-winning series of matches on Saturday as they beat their Guernsey counterparts 35-5.
U12 coach Jackie Nelson, who assisted her daughter, Michelle, with the U15 team, said: ‘The groundwork we are doing in the schools, with the development squad, the academy and the Youth League is showing through.
‘I felt for Guernsey; our players were a cut above them in many games, especially the U12s and U15s.
‘In the U15s our girls raced into a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and it’s not often it happens but we were able to change the whole team to give everyone a game.
‘It was a similar story in the U12s where we won 35-5.
The only defeat over the weekend was in the over-35s and that was down to losing a lot of stalwarts but the team that played gave an excellent account of themselves.’ U12 (Saturday): Romy Smith, Melissa Luis, Lindsey Paton (vice-captain), Millie Jones (captain), Hannah Jauncey, Shadine Duquemin, Rosie Tonner, Annie Bolle-Jones, Sophie Botterill, Charlotte Ng, Lucy Le Lièvre.
At U13 level and in a match which Jersey were losing for most of the game, the final quarter proved decisive as Jersey rallied, having lost this fixture last year, to run out winners, finally, 21-19.
‘Neither team were able to settle into a flow but Jersey won in the end because they never dropped their heads.
This really was a gutsy performance,’ said coach Ali Talbot.
‘In the last quarter, to their credit, they simply went for it.
They refused to be beaten.’ U13 (Saturday): Holly d’Anger, Emma Le Maistre, Kim Pallot (vice-captain), Katie McGinty (captain), Robyn Baker, Laura Cook, Ellie Le Var, Harriet Kean, Alana Rondel, Stephanie Devine.
Not to be outdone by the Jersey youngsters on Saturday, the U18s proved too strong for Guernsey by winning 41-31.
However, even though the game was close in the first half hour, coach Linda Andrews never felt her side were under pressure.
‘There was no tension, even when we were only winning by one goal,’ she said.
‘At half-time we brought Jenny Harrop on, but that was a tactical change in attack, because they’d started to read our play.
We’d talked about it beforehand, and simply changed our pattern of play.
After that, I felt we were always in control.
In the final quarter we totally dominated, gaining 14 interceptions and scoring seven goals without reply.
Lynsey Pitman was deservedly player of the match.’ U18: Jenny Harrop, Lynsey Pitman, Emma Carré, Lara Crenan (captain), Megan Conroy (vice-captain), Jacy Brown, Sophie Hickey, Lauren Devine, Josie Le Masurier.
The final game on Saturday saw the senior B side win 43-27 in a game of mixed fortunes for shooter Zoe Hotton, who was player of the match but who also fell heavily – brought down by a fellow player – but carried on, despite an injured knee.
Both she and fellow shooter Jackie Norman played brilliantly, but so, too, did 22-year-old Sarah Thatcher, Michelle Nelson at centre and Sharon West, who was peerless in defence.
Senior B: Zoe Hotton, Jackie Norman, Emma Le Main, Michelle Nelson, Claire Ahier, Sarah Thatcher, Sharon West, Caroline Avery.
Sunday morning at Beau Séjour began as Saturday afternoon had ended – on a winning note, as Jersey U14s excelled in winning 50-21.
Although every member of the squad played well – and were used during the game – special mention must go to goal attack, Lucy Crossman, whose standard of shooting was exceptional.
In a game that was too far for the Guernsey youngsters, Jersey went into an early lead and, after that, never looked back.
U14: Louise Pearce, Lucy Crossman, Lauren Rimeur, Lauren Barnes, Megan Hamilton, Natalie Hellio, Lisa Luce (vice-captain), Laura Harris (captain), Imogen Pickering, Alice Godfrey, Katharina Cole.
Also on Sunday was arguably the showpiece of any of the games played over the weekend as a strong Jersey U15 side thrashed Guernsey 60-12.
Afterwards the Island senior coach, Maureen Cox, described the game as if ‘it was an England team against schoolgirls.’ And, she said, to their credit, the Guernsey spectators recognised how impressively Jersey were playing as, towards the end of a very one-sided match, they were applauding everything that the player of the match, goal shooter Emma Carré was doing, as she slotted home goal after goal, like a metronome.
‘It was an awesome display, simply awesome,’ said Cox.
U15s: Emma Carré (vice-captain), Jenna Murphy, Kerrie Jarvie, Kirsty White, Elianne Riant, Amy Dingle (captain), Cordelia Overland, Stephanie Le Ruez, Nicole Goddard, Kirsten McArthur.
Finally, the Over-35s lost to a Guernsey team which came out determined that they would prevent a whitewash .
.
.
and they duly won 58-23.
‘They wanted to win, and they did,’ said Maureen Cox.
‘Some of their players were only just in the age range, and they sussed Jersey out from the start.
We lost – but at this level, our girls weren’t so disheartened.
Overall they, and all of the players, have had a good weekend away.’ O35s: Jenny Keen, Karen Kurys, Lisa Avery, Tammy Fage, Tracy Fullerton, Mary Pack, Amanda Luce, Michelle Fox, Carol Bouhaire.
