Ground-breaking launch on LSE

Computershare, based in Pier Road, and Mourant du Feu & Jeune worked with London and Jersey-based ETF Securities Ltd to enable the largest-ever simultaneous listing on the LSE, consisting of 19 individual securities and ten index securities.

ETCs are a relatively new asset class which enable investors to access commodities without trading futures or taking physical delivery.

Investors can buy and trade ETCs on regulated exchanges through ordinary brokerage accounts.

Investors thereby have the choice of combining commodities with their equity, bond and property portfolio.

Graeme Ross, director of Computershare Investors Services (CI) Ltd, said: ‘Until now no single exchange has covered all the world’s major commodities or commodity groups – energy, agriculture, livestock, precious and industrial metals.

This involved some complex structuring and demonstrates how as an Island we have the calibre of personnel to enable such activities, supported within a strong legal framework.
